Infrastructure services company, FM Conway, is set to bring ships back to Imperial Wharf in Gravesend for the first time in more than 20 years in a new bitumen import operation.

A multi-million pound refurbishment is underway of the existing jetty and tank
farm on the site to enable the import, storage and distribution of bitumen.

Former PLA CEO, Richard Everitt, was recognised among the recipients in this year’s Queen’s birthday honours list.
Richard, who retired from the PLA in March this year after 10 years as chief executive, was awarded the CBE for his services to transport.
Prior to joining the PLA, Richard spent four years as a solicitor before working in the aviation sector for BAA and NATS.
He has also served as chairman of the United Kingdom Major Ports Group and is chairman of Air Partner plc.

On 12 June the PLA’s London-based staff left Bakers Hall, its London base for the last 14 years, and moved to temporary accommodation. Bakers Hall is set to be redeveloped.
