A celebrity sailing challenge that battled choppy seas to raise more than £1 million for charity – was greeted by calmer waters when it reached the tidal Thames.

Sport Relief’s Hell on High Seas challenge saw six celebs undergo five days of nautical trials as they sailed round the UK from Belfast
to HMS Belfast.

was joined by fellow presenters Angellica Bell, Ore Oduba and
Suzi Perry – as well as comedians Hal Cruttenden and Doon Mackichan – for the endurance test which involved fearsome winds and freezing temperatures.

as it headed for a PLA mooring alongside HMS Belfast.

The team set off from Northern Ireland on Monday 7 March, reaching the Thames estuary early on Friday morning. Our harbour master team helped ensure that the final leg of the voyage went without a hitch.

Deputy harbour master (upper) Nick Evans said: “The Hell on High Seas challenge had intended to finish its journey elsewhere in the UK but the bad weather they experienced meant they had to head to the Thames.

“We had short notice of their arrival, but with the help of our staff and Livett’s Launches, who provided expert assistance as well as a boat

for a film crew from The One Show, we were all set in good in time.

“Their arrival went without a hitch and our mooring, next to HMS Belfast, was ready for them when they got to central London around 7pm. It was a privilege to be a little part of Sport Relief’s massive efforts to raise funds for a great cause.”
