You may have noticed one or two new boats on the tidal Thames in recent weeks. Here’s some info about the latest additions that have been licensed to work on the river… Vessel/company: Exterminator, Thames Rib Experience, Embankment Pier Length/draught: 11.5 metres/0.75 metres
Power: 2 x 370 horsepower 8LV Yanmar stern Exterminator has twin rotating props and twin turbo engines. There is room for 12 passengers and two crew. Its additional safety features include a larger raised helm for enhanced look out and raised seating for greater safety and comfort. Vessel/company: ZP Bear tug, Length: 24 metres Power: 5600 BHP Bollard pull: 70 tonnes Vessel/company: GPS Battler tug, GPS Marine, Chatham, Kent Length/beam/draught: 21.6 metres, 9.4 metres, 2.2 metres Bollard pull: 16 tonnes Vessel/company: Barges Ashburn and Ashcroft, Cory Environmental, Battersea Info: The barges transport incinerator ash from Bexley borough to a Tilbury processing plant, where it will be turned into aggregate for the building industry. Two more barges were due to arrive at the end of April. |
