This is our first edition of Tidal Thames News. The Thames is a busy waterway where things are always happening and we've created this publication as a way to help share news about the river and developments on it.

This is unashamedly a 'digital' newsletter. We are aiming to make it a concise publication, regularly delivered, giving you the basic story, with simple-
to-use links to more information, films and photos of the stories you're interested in.

Commuters embrace it, thrill seekers get their kicks from it and tourists love it! The river Thames is a national treasure and one the PLA is helping to expand the use of.

Already the Thames is used for six million river journeys a year – a number that London Mayor, Boris Johnson, wants to double to 12 million by 2020, under his River Action Plan.

Transport for London has £10 million
of investment funds ready to back the plan with developments at piers. And already commuter services have been
expanded to Putney and new vessels added to the core tourist routes.

People really want to see the river
used more,” said Richard Tracey,
the Mayor’s ambassador for river transport.
